I agree with: "THE CITY OF ANGEL" with Nicolas Cage & Meg Ryan
And I also suggest:
The way we were
The Notebook
Remember me
P.S. I love you
Los Abrazos Rotos(broken embraces)

and I'm sure there are many more...

Ok I have to say these are good choices, but they are not my choices. When I think of great love stories Anne of green gables comes to mind, what a great love story between Anne and Gilbert, they go from enemy's to friends and then heroine Anne finds out Gilbert loves her and isn't ready to love him back, but when she finds out he's sick and will probably die she can no longer conseal the feelings she has for him.But recently I watched another amazing film that made me cry like a baby and that movie was "Never let me go" there's a lot this story so I suggest reading the book and don't expect a normal love story because it's very unusual but interesting and tragically romantic.Last but not least is a newer love story that I watched a couple of weeks ago and that was "The debt"sadly the story didn't end up like I wanted it to but usually they don't end the way we want them to.

this may seem like an odd choice, but what about the godfather? when michael leaves america and goes to sicily and meets that sicilian woman. the whole sequence was well shot and i love the way it went, even though she got killed.
also michael and kay. how the more michael tries to change, the more she tries to save him, the more the criminal underworld conspires to keep him locked in their world. i feel these two are great stories about love and tragedy.

What about "THE CITY OF ANGEL" with Nicolas Cage & Meg Ryan? or "SOMEWHERE IN TIME" with the late Christopher Reeves & Jane Seymour?
